Belarc Advisor Tells All: A Personal Computer Audit!

Belarc Advisor, (http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html) is a free downloadable software program that builds a detailed profile of your installed software and hardware, missing Microsoft hot fixes, anti-virus status, and also gives security benchmarks from the Center for Internet Security. After the audit is completed it displays the results in your Web browser. Per Belarc Advisor, the audit data is kept private on your computer and is not sent to any web server.

I learned about this recently from my tech person Rick. We were working on converting my files over to a new desktop. I asked Rick to confirm the memory on my desktop as I thought what I ordered was not what I had received. We loaded Belarc Advisor and within 3 minutes confirmed the hard drive size was half of the purchase order specifications. I was able to use this data when discussing the shortage with the seller and a new hard drive is on the way. There are other ways to confirm you computers specifications. What is nice about Belarc Advisor is that it gives the computer owner a very detailed audit of the hardware and software as well as any Microsoft hot fixes that are missing and an anti-virus status.
This site is a great site to bookmark and use when you want to do a complete hardware and software audit on your computer. It has serial numbers as well which comes in handy if you have misplaced your paperwork.
